Kitchen remodeling in Los Angeles

Kitchens are where a home is lived in most, and where layout, cabinetry, stone, appliances, plumbing, gas, ventilation and lighting all meet. We build them as one coordinated project, from opening walls to the last cabinet pull.

Our approach

A great kitchen is decided in inches: clearances, heights and alignments. We resolve them on paper before anything is demolished.

Process

How the work is done.

Every project is scoped to the property, but the sequence that protects the result stays the same.

Site review

We review the existing kitchen, structure, utilities and how you cook and entertain.

Plan and select

Layout, cabinetry, stone, appliances and lighting are confirmed with you and your designer, and long-lead items are ordered.

Permits

Electrical, plumbing, gas, ventilation and any wall changes are permitted with the right agency.

Rough-in

Walls, utilities and ventilation are reworked and inspected before they are closed.

Cabinetry and stone

Cabinets are set and leveled, then stone is templated from the installed cabinets and fabricated.

Finish and handover

Appliances, fixtures and lighting are installed and tested, and every detail is reviewed with you.

Questions

Kitchens: common questions.

How long does a kitchen remodel take in Los Angeles?

A full kitchen remodel typically takes a few months of construction, and longer when walls move, utilities are relocated or custom cabinetry and stone have long lead times. Ordering appliances, cabinetry and slabs early is the best way to protect the schedule.

Do I need a permit for a kitchen remodel?

Usually, if the work changes electrical, plumbing, gas, ventilation or walls. In the City of Los Angeles, many kitchen remodels without structural changes can be permitted through an LADBS express permit; Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Culver City and unincorporated County areas have their own processes.

Can we remove a wall to open up the kitchen?

Often, yes. If the wall is load-bearing, a structural engineer sizes a new beam and posts, and the change is permitted and inspected. Plumbing, ducts or wiring inside the wall also need to be rerouted.

Can I live at home during a kitchen remodel?

Many clients do, with a temporary kitchen set up elsewhere in the house and dust protection around the work area. Larger renovations that affect several rooms or utilities may make a temporary move more comfortable.
